The warning came from Environment Canada at 7 p.m

The tornado warning that Environment Canada put out for Ottawa Friday night has been taken away.

Around 7 p.m., a warning was sent out for the area because a severe thunderstorm that could make a tornado was near Arnprior, Ontario, and moving southeast at 60 km/h.

The agency said it had the potential to bring strong winds, big hail, and heavy rain.

Environment Canada said, “This is a dangerous situation that could put people’s lives in danger.”

The weather service told people to find a safe place to stay right away if they saw a funnel cloud, debris swirling near the ground, flying debris, or dangerous weather coming.

As of 7:20 p.m., there is still a severe thunderstorm warning for the nation’s capital and other parts of eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

An earlier storm on Friday brought heavy hail and cut power to a lot of people.
