North of Belleville, in the Township of Madoc, there was a theft

The Ontario Provincial Police at the Central Hastings detachment, north of Belleville, are looking for information about a copper wire theft that happened on Friday night.

The Ontario Provincial Police say that a Bell phone line was cut directly from a pole on the west side of Highway 62, about 1.5 kilometers south of Hazzards Road in the Township of Madoc. The pole is on the west side of Highway 62, on the west side of the road.

The total repair cost is expected to exceed $10,000.

Constable Barbara Hunter of the OPP said that a Bell service worker called to report the incident after hearing that service in the area had been cut off. When the worker went to check, he saw that all of the wire had been taken off the pole.

Hunter also said that the theft would not happen again.
