Winter weather has caused school buses to be canceled or run late

Snow and ice pellets are making it hard to get around

A winter weather travel advisory means that some school bus routes in and around Ottawa will be late or cancelled on Friday.

On its website, the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority lists a number of routes that have been delayed.

Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario, which serves many communities near Ottawa, has canceled all trips because of the weather.

The Consortium de transport scolaire d’Ottawa Merrickville and Kemptville, Brockville, Carleton Place and Almonte, Marionville, Kingston, Trenton, and students from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell have all lost their transportation. However, schools remain open.

The Consortium de transport scolaire de l’Esthas also canceled school buses for the day, but schools will still be open.

On its website, the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium also has a long list of cancelled trips.

Travel advisories for winter weather are in effect for Ottawa, Smiths Falls, Prescott and Russell, Brockville, Cornwall, Kingston, and South Frontenac.
