Passengers should check with airlines about flights that have been canceled

The terminal building at St. John’s Regional Airport is closed this morning because of a fire.

It started around 11:30 p.m. last night on the second floor of the terminal.

Firefighters from St. John’s Regional Fire Department and Airport Emergency Services were able to keep the fire in one area. We don’t know what caused it yet.

No one was hurt in the incident, but it has made travel difficult on a day when many flights had already been canceled or delayed because of a storm hitting the east coast of Newfoundland.

Before going to the airport, passengers are asked to check with their airline, but the terminal is still closed for now.
