More than five times as many people are being hospitalized for COVID than two weeks ago

Recent developments:

  • Ottawa’s COVID-19 There have been more hospitalizations and outbreaks.
  • Some numbers are back to where they were when 2023 began.
  • Quebec says that people who are weak should get a booster dose in the fall.
  • Six more local deaths from COVID have been reported.

The lates

In the weekly Ottawa Public Health (OPH) update, the numbers of pandemics to watch in the city are all going up. This is because people are worried about a new wave and COVID-19 mutations.

Mid-January was the last time OPH said it was worried about high levels of COVID-19 for the general public. Some of the signs, like hospitalizations and the average percentage of positive tests, are back around that time on Wednesday.

The OPH has not yet released its most recent weekly assessment of whether levels are low, moderate, high, or very high.

Experts say that when someone is sick, they should stay at home and wear a mask if they have to go out in public. People talk more about wearing a mask or staying away from crowded indoor places.

Keeping up to date with COVID vaccines can also help protect people who are weak. Early in the fall, new booster doses are expected.
