Peel investigators say they found “several pieces of evidence” in Gurvinder Nath’s car

Officers found several pieces of evidence inside the car that the person who was killed in a carjacking in Mississauga earlier this month was driving. Police believe that more than one person was responsible for the attack.

Peel Regional Police gave new information about the investigation into the death of Brampton food delivery driver Gurvinder Nath at a news conference on Friday morning. They also asked those responsible to get a lawyer and turn themselves in.

“No matter how much you were involved, you are guilty of murdering Gurvinder Nath,” said homicide bureau Insp. Phillip King. “You will be arrested and charged accordingly.”

Police have said before that Nath, who was 24 years old and worked as a pizza delivery driver, was working in Mississauga on July 9 in the area of Britannia Road and Creditview Road. When he got to the address, he was met by several people who tried to take his car, and then a “physical altercation” happened.

Constable Tyler Bell said on Friday that Nath had been “violently attacked,” which left him unconscious and in very bad shape. Bell said that after this, several people came to his aid and called for help. Nath was then taken to a trauma center, where he died five days after the attack.

“Investigators do think there are more than one suspect, and they think the food order was put in to get the driver to come to this area,” King said.

“In this investigation, every possible motive is being looked into. But right now, everything points to Gurvinder being a victim who did nothing wrong.”

Vehicle found abandone

Police said on Friday that Nath’s car was left in the area of Old Dairy Road and Old Creditview Road in Mississauga in the hours after the incident.

It has since been looked at by a forensics expert, and “several pieces of evidence” have been collected, King said. The police are working on the idea that the people involved didn’t expect the victim to get “extensive injuries,” so they gave up on the plan early.

Investigators have also found a car that was seen in the area several times before the robbery happened. It is a white 2012–2017 Hyundai Accent with a blue flashing light added to the top of the windshield.

King said that a man dressed in dark clothes was seen getting out of the car and walking toward where the attack happened.

Speaking on CBC Radio’s Metro MorningFriday, family friend Jaswinder Meelu said that Nath came to Canada from India as an international student in July 2021. He had “big dreams” of staying in Canada and getting an education so that he could start his own business.

The victim was said to be honest, hardworking, and helpful

Meelu said that Nath was taking business administration classes at Loyalist College in North York and delivering pizzas over the summer before going back to school in September.

Meelu said, “He was a very nice gentleman who was very helpful and a good person.” “One who worked hard and was honest, and who wanted to get ahead and do something good for the community and for himself and his family.”

Meelu said that Nath’s death has caused his family a lot of pain, and that he himself is also trying to deal with the news.

“I still wake up in the middle of the night and think, ‘Oh my God, I knew someone who died at such a young age,'” he said.

Investigators want anyone who knows what happened to Nath to talk to the police or Crime Stoppers.
