The boss of four injured construction workers says they are no longer in the hospital

Court documents show that the Ottawa man who is being blamed for the explosion at a building site in Orléans last month broke into two homes and stole water heaters but left the natural gas supply open.

Last week, police charged Kody Crosby, 35, with a long list of things, including arson and criminal negligence, for things they say he did on February 12, the day before the explosion.

Court records also show that Crosby pleaded guilty to a string of thefts in 2016. Some of the charges against him were later dropped, including an alleged break-in at a construction site in Kanata in 2019.

His lawyer has refused to say anything about the new or old charges.

Four workers who were hurt are now back at work

In the explosion last month, four homes were completely destroyed, and others were badly damaged. At the time, firefighters said that a gas leak caused the blast.

Two men were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Two children and two more adults were also taken in stable condition to local hospitalsco

A spokesperson for Potvin Construction, Chantal Guindon, said that the four men who were hurt were subcontracted construction workers who have been out of the hospital for a week.

She told them, “They are lucky to be alive.” “The trauma is the most important thing. This has really shaken them up.”
