When Mike Hochaka woke up in Prince George, B.C., and saw that more than 30 centimeters of snow had fallen, he only had one thought: “Get out there and do it.”

“It” was making a huge snowman that he thinks is about 4.5 meters, or 15 feet, tall. This is taller than the 12-foot snowman he made in 2019.

The 14-hour project is one way that people in the city are making the most of a snowy February that is not typical.

Jonathan Bau, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says that on average, Prince George gets about 28 centimeters of rain in February. This year, however, they got 60,2 centimeters.
