Neighbourhood police teams worry that when school is out and the weather is consistently hot, after-hours parties at Britannia and other beaches will draw even bigger crowds.

Police say the second person was saved right away and is safe

Emergency services say that a 17-year-old girl is in very bad shape after being pulled from the Ottawa River near Britannia Beach.

Sunday night, paramedics in Ottawa said they took the girl to the hospital.

A tweet from police says that they were there at 7:15 p.m., along with Ottawa fire services and police.

The police said they got a call that two people in the water were in trouble.

The first person was saved right away and is safe. The second person was found after a search in the water. Before taking the girl to the hospital, emergency services gave her first aid.
