Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue confirmed Thursday that they were continuing to search with the assistance of many teams from across the Lower Mainland, while RCMP say about 45 search and rescue resources have been deployed.

Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue said late Thursday night that the teen had been found

A teen girl who had been missing for more than two days in Golden Ears Provincial Park has been found “alive and well,” according to Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue.

Ryan Smith, a member of the rescue team, told CBC by email just after 11 p.m. Thursday that the good news was true.

The CBC has asked the Ridge Meadows RCMP for their thoughts.

The teen had been missing since Tuesday afternoon, when she got separated from the other three people she was hiking with. The news is a relief because it means the search for her, which had been going on for days, is over.

A helicopter, a drone, and rescue teams from all over the Lower Mainland helped look for the girl in what rescuers called difficult terrain.

Tuesday at 2:45 p.m., the teen’s group left a lookout point to go back to their campsite. About 15 minutes later, they realized that the teen wasn’t with them.

Police say that the group went back to the viewpoint to look for the girl. When they didn’t find her, the leader went back to the trailhead to get a park ranger to call the police.

Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue confirmed Thursday afternoon that they were searching with the help of many teams from the Lower Mainland. The RCMP said that about 45 search and rescue resources had been sent out.

The teen was carrying food, water, and a cellphone, but no one could reach her because she was in a remote area without cell service.

People at the search site said that she just finished her 10th grade at Walnut Grove Secondary and that she loves being outside.
