Ottawa police say a pedestrian was killed when he or she was hit by an OC Transpo bus on St. Laurent Boulevard south of Highway 417.

In a news release on Thursday afternoon, police said that a 26-year-old woman who had been hurt in the crash had died.

In an email, the city said that the bus that hit the woman was an R1 shuttle bus, which is one of the buses that are now running on the Confederation Line since the LRT isn’t working.

Thursday around 11 a.m., police were called to the intersection of St. Laurent Boulevard and Tremblay Road.

The Ottawa Police Service wants anyone who saw what happened or may have video of it to come forward.

As police looked into what happened, the ramp from the eastbound 417 to St. Laurent Boulevard and a section of St. Laurent itself were closed.

This restriction was taken off Thursday afternoon.

About six kilometers east of the city center and just south of the St-Laurent station on the temporarily closed Confederation Line is where the action is taking place.
