Seu Jorge is a man with a serious master plan. You may know him from his heavy acting chops (City of God, The Life Aquatic), but it was through the latter film that folks discovered his silky baritone as he tackled a healthy chunk of Bowie's back catalogue acoustic-style in his native tongue, Portuguese. This record sees the debut of his band, Almaz, as they tackle other people's songs - from their own Brazil, he U.S. and Europe - in a psychedelic shakedown. Throw in nice chunks of samba, funk, soul, reggae, rock, and world beats. and voila, a perfect summer bake.
