Kate Maki's been a shark among the fishes for some time, with her easygoing melodies suggesting vulnerability whilst still caging the occasional dark threat. Tunes like Bloodshot & Blistered and Rage in a Cage feature all sorts of delicious instrumentation and soft cooing, yet the titles are sly indicators of hidden menace. With the majority of the LP recorded in Tucson, Arizona, the album title itself demonstrates nuanced wit. A highlight may be the languid sway of Message Delivered, but Maki's brilliance is all over this wedding - shotgun at the ready.
