From opener Raise the Dead to hot-as-hell single Leah Leave to The Murder Between Us to Swearengen (which, I hope, is influenced by Deadwood) to My Horse Has Cancer, there is a certain buzzy, Queens Of The Stone Age vibe going on here. Thing is, it's more homage and less rip-off, which is cool. Easily the best unsigned rock band in Canada, Ottawa's APAM full-on kicks you in the face with Deuce, a weird spaghetti western of a rock album that's aggressively quirky and quirkily aggressive. Brawny, ballsy, bloody bodacious rock, just like mama used to make.
