Phase 2: Amidst the Madness

Special Ops explore rock, thrash, hardcore and grunge with a dual-vocal, double kick drum attack on their second album. Citing mid-'90s staples such as Metallica or Alice In Chains as their primary influences, Special Ops toe the company line through 10 tracks of slickly produced, chorus-heavy, radio-ready metal that oozes youth rebellion, angst and tormented urban decadence at every turn. Reminiscent of post-Black Album Metallica more than anything else, with a dash of Soundgarden and slightly overdone on the Nickelback, Special Ops will appeal to many.
