Neverending White Lights - (Maple Music)

Act I: Goodbye Friends of the Heavenly Bodies
Dave Jaffer

Serene and spooky, restrained and moody, Daniel Victor's Neverending White Lights project is an excursion into the luminal. Conceptually that's fine and good, but thankfully it's backed up by some pretty impressive music. Victor, a self-taught virtuoso, basically did this whole thing by himself: writing, playing and producing everything save for the vocal cameos provided by Canadian luminaries including Raine Maida, Dallas Green and Nick Hexum. The end product is masterful, occasionally sobering and genius in its own right.

Just What We All Needed...

I was hooked after the first and last time I heard the song, "The Grace" on the radio...I had to buy the CD. I had just been introduced to some of Dallas Green's stuff and thought that it was one of his songs...lol. But then I heard the name, Neverending White Lights, so I tried to find more of your stuff on the internet only to be disappointed because it was such a new release. So I decided to take a risk and bought the whole CD just because of the one song on the radio. This risk turned out to be a real investment as I love the entire thing.

As I had read in one of Daniel's interviews, the music does take patience. You have to listen to it a few times before you truly appreciate the vocals, lyrics and most important, instrumentals. As a drummer, I was a littly sketchy about all of the electronic effects used in the recordings, especially the drums, but now I realize the ambience and character they bring out in the music. Perfect Harmonic Balance.

I know that Daniel discussed being disappointed that "The Grace" had been aired among all the other mainstream garbage out there. But here's a testiment to how good this CD is...I heard one of their songs for the first time at six in the morning, the time when I am most senile, and knew that this was totally different. Awesome job on the whole thing...Daniel's effort really shows.
