Princess Superstar - (The Corrupt Conglormerate/K7)

My Machine
Paul Spence

With My Machine, Concetta Kirschner drops her fifth album, and this little piece of alloy-infused plastic is a real piece of work. It's a concept album, taking place in the year 3005, the year of the Great Brain Revolution. See, in 2080 the world succumbs to a doomsday scenario that buggers everything up. And now (in 3005), rising from the ashes is Princess Superstar, who is helping our hapless future cousins understand a new world. As a concept album it doesn't make me want to dig up the brown acid I've been saving, but it's catchy and I dig the sparse production. From electro-disco to stripped-down hip-hop, I'd like to think that putting this album on at a party would at least get the drunk people with vacant looks in their eyes dancing, if not kneeling down facing the window and waiting for their brains to start revolting.

Princess Superbore

It is hard to consistently expect Princess Superstar to make music that will dress to impress, or undress in her case. Her bland electronic beats are made all the more stale by the lyrics heard on all of her previous albums. Sex and partying can only last so long for this native of Philidelphia. But alas, it is hard to reach the success of a classic like 'Bad Babysitter'. While I didn't expect Princess Superstar to mature into a serious musician, I was still disappointed by the overall tone of the album. I'd still pay for a Princess Superstar lapdance, but I sure wouldn't pay for this album.
