Concert/Carolyn Mark & Neville Quinlan/Sep 19, 2002

Not to dispute my fellow members' fine opinion of this event or this performer but I'm not a fanboy who's prone to waxing poetic on people or shows that barely register above average. And that is what this was. Average.

Yes, Carolyn Mark might well be one of the sweetest and funniest people in the entertainment business today (a very arguable point) but is that suppose to buy her a get out jail card as far as quality shows are concerned? Sorry, I don't think so. Objectively speaking this show was ok but I have seen muuuuuuch better. Respect the woman all you want but don't tell me or anyone that this was an amazing show. Ok, yes--amazing, no.

Canada's Finest Hostess

Carolyn Mark is one of the sweetest and funniest people in the entertainment business. She'd be rich and famous if it wasn't for the fact that she also has taste.

Ms Mark and her Roommates played an amazing show. It was a particular treat because we get to see her so rarely. You see Ms Mark plays country music...not New Country, or Alt Country, or Pop country, but actual Honky Tonk music. She doesn't sing a song unless it can inspire laughter or tears, and she doesn't play in clubs that cater to boot-scootin' clientele.

Carolyn has a wonderful voice, but the real strength of her show is her manner. She is genuinely the most likeable person I've ever seen onstage, and it makes everything she plays that much better.

If ever you're in Victoria, Carolyn hosts a weekly 'Hootenany' every Sunday at a local bar. Find it. She's well worth it,
