Adjani in her Greatest Performance

Camille Claudel is the sad and poignant story of Camille Claudel, a famous French artist who sacrifices her life, career and ultimately her sanity for the man she loves, sculptor Auguste Rodin. Adjani is beautiful and compelling as the troubled artist who gets involved in a passionate relationship with Rodin (brillantly portrayed by Gerard Depardieu) who slowly becomes more interested in his work than his companion. This is slow, heart wrenching melodrama between two powerful actors. A must see!

Another great introduction to French cinematography!

The film follows the life of the very famous French artist named Camille Claudel struggling with her emotions, love life (with Auguste Rodin) and passions for sculpture. It's a very moving, interesting, hard and extremely unique story which had deeply touched me. This is a very good film, which is very well adapted to the screen; the cinematography and dialogue are both great. In my opinion, this is another essential and great introduction to French cinematography. The cast includes two great French actors (among the greatest in France!) Isabelle Adjani, and Gerard Depardieu.
