My sides are still aching

Woody Harrelson stars as Roy Munson, a one-time championship-winning ten pin bowler, lowered by various misfortunes to a bald, drunken nobody who spends his days in self-pity. But it looks like there could be a glimmer of hope for the man when he meets Ishmael (Randy Quaid). Ishmael is one of the most naturally gifted bowlers he's ever seen, and it looks like with a bit of coaching he could make the pair of them some serious money. The only trouble is, Ishmael's Amish, and really isn't supposed to be doing stuff like this.

Also on board are Bill Murray as Roy's wild-haired rival on the alley, and Vanessa Angel who always looks good.

There's an unusual charm behind the tale. Harrelson and Quaid seem an awkward team at first, but end up going fantastically well together, while my only complaint with Murray is that he's not on-screen often enough.

Not one of the best-written films of our times but I was laughing so hard I could not care what they said most of the time.

This Author gives it one thumb up!

In the vein of corny comedy movies

When you look at he resume provided here for the directors of Kingpin, you tend to have a little clue as to where this movie is gonna take you. Quite the corny comedy indeed.

The cast is well-known, as Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid and Bill Murray are no slouches. And I must say, all three were an absolutely perfect fit for a movie about bowling. Roy Munson, after losing his hand, is back on the bowling alleys and out to win the big one, at the expense of the best known player in the game (Bill Murray) who turns out to be a popular, yet self-centered player. On the way there, Munson recruits an amish guy who falls into the world of sin...litterally. Not to mention this former prostitute of some sort that will eventually be the girl everybody wants in the end.

But on this journey, all characters put themselves is absolutely ludicrous situations, that combien the corny (as mentioned), the twisted and the hilarious. When Munson is on the amish farm and drinks what he thinks is milk. Gross. So the Farrelly brothers have a lot of twisted imagination. B**e me. In brief, a lot of ridiculous characters, some unbelievable skits, and a tremendous setting for comical stunts make this movie ia very light, and yet funny as holy hell comedy.

Ha!

Okay, this was a memorable film for a few reasons...Woody is good at being silly. To see him in serious roles took years because he was just too goofy from cheers, but he also had to be given a good Crazy role like Natural born killers to succeed outside comedy. he's a bowling star here, then loses his hand to the bad guys for crossing them and becomes an alcoholic. it starts off pretty serious, but gets really silly the rest of the film when Randy enters the picture. especially when they are on the farm and Woody milks what he thinks is a cow only to have taken a sip from the bucket before being told it was a male...LOL.

King Of What?

Kingpin fails as a comedy in my eyes. It's overly stupid and not very funny when it's trying to be. The basis of this movie is a en ex bowling player who lost his hand finds a bowling prodigy in a amish man and seeks his talents to help him win money. Personally the best part of this movie is Vanessa Angel and the moments where she teases the screen and wears skimpy things, but personally I'd take the Weird Science TV series over Kingpin. And why is Bill Murray in this garbage?!

A Dumb Comedy

Kingpin is truly your typical dumb movie and no matter what you will laugh constantly as you watch this film. I mean, when you realize what the plot is, you instantly know that it will be dumb. It's about a professional bowler who lost everything he had including his respect and money because he decided to cheat and just happened to get caught. Now, he's back to wanting to win once more and finds a man whom he believes is good enough to win the bowling championship against his arch enemy played by Steve Murray. Naturally, all throughout the movie all kinds of dumb events occur that make you just laugh out loud. If you want a good laugh, just watch this film.

A SO-SO FILM

This film was a so-so film that was pretty funny but lack some jokes at the end of the film because the ending was getting boring and the main characters in this film were not likeable as in the beginning of this film. Woody Harelson was the best actor in this film and the most funniest and all he is trying to do in this film is hustle people so he can earn a living. I recommend you to watch this film.

Raunchy humour- oh my!

What a film! Let me be more specific- without giving too much away.

This is a very funny movie about a pathetic and revolting man, played by Woody Harrelson, seeking to re-live bowling fame and aquire some much needed funds by recruiting an Amish bowling genius and becoming his manager.

What can be said beyond that without describing the actual gags? The only character creepier than Roy Munson (Harrelson's character) is his landlady! I cringe just thinking about her.

So all of this is to say that the Farrelly brothers have a skill at pulling together the funny/silly/twisted movie like no other. In fact, they are brilliant at what they do. This movie like their other films is sure to get you laughing. So lighten up and enjoy it for what it is.

Under-Rated

This is a great film, well written, well directed, well acted (especially Bill Murray and Randy Quaid). This marks the second of three classic Farrelly Bros. films (the others being Dumb&Dumber and Something About Mary).

If you didnt like it the first time around, rent it again...you might change your mind.

So Funny

This is one hilarious film. The director Peter & Bobby Farrelly made an excellent job realizing this wonderful film. I honestly think that he made a better job realizing this film rather than "Dumb and Dumber". He made this film funny and in the same time really interessting to watch. Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid and Bill Murray made this film so hilarious. Trust me this one one heck of a funny movie you don't wanna miss.
