Air Force One

(United States, Germany, 1997) With Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Glenn Close. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot, The Perfect Storm). Category : Action. Length : 2:04. Classification : 13 and over

Movie description :
The director of Das Boot rapes himself with this boring, mindless, predictable thriller about the perfect American action hero - the fuckin' President. Are Americans that needy? Harrison is once again humourless as he chooses between saving his family and his country. We do learn the difference between patriots and fanatics - there is none.

Enough!

Any 'patriotic' movie is just a plot to make people all over the world think the USA is the greatest country in the world because of their leader!!!

I think Harrison Ford is a great actor, but let's face it, Gary Oldman is the star of this movie. This guy plays the psychotic villain with such grace and passion, you end up wishing he'd win!!

I've yet to be disappointed in Oldman on film, but it would be nice to see him get the credit he deserves. Not sure I'd cast him in the role of the president, but his character would be a little closer to the truth.

Kick Ass President

In this era of buffouns like George W and Tony Blair, isn't it nice to know that Hollywood can still throw out a nonense kick ass President Ford, Harrisson ford that is. Air force One is as cheesy as they come. Some terrorist kidnap Air Force One with the President and his cute and cuddly family. This over the top, patriotic garbage gros thin quickly as Ford quickly takes over things and defeats the baddies.

Knock Em Out The Box Luke

Harrison Ford returns triumphantly to the action genre this time as the president of the united states, but he's kicking ass and taking names. The movie which is kinda chilling today due to the terrorist attacks of 9/11 is somewhat inspiring to see one man on a plane beating up the terrorists to get his plane back, and he's even the president! The movie has it's fun action scenes and some drama and of course your one liners like "get off my plane!" which made me chuckle. Harrison Ford still has it and this movie is definetely worth watching.

Great movie!

Air Force One is one of my all time favorite movie. Packed with suspense and action, it really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ford is simply at his best in this movie, caring and vulnerable but at the same time smart and strong, he really gave power to his character. Rent it, buy it, its a definite must if you still have not seen it!

Violent

This movie is very violent, but I feel that it wasn't simply violence for violence's sake. Nearly every violent act went toward plot or character development, especially the latter. The main villain is this film is the first 3-dimensional bad guy I've seen in a very long time. Also, I would like to point out that, for an R-rated action movie, the language is quite tame. And every time that I can recall a "good guy" using foul language was in a time when he/she was under extreme duress. (Not that this justifies it, but this is a lot better than the average R-rated flick where such language seems to be thrown in simply to guarantee the R.) By all means, if the language or violence would offend you, don't go to this movie.

Air Force One

Air Force One is a pretty good movie even though it is a little far fetched sometimes. It did have quite a bit of violence and they definitely could have done without the foul language. Hollywood always seems to put foul language, violence and at least one liberal left wing line or two into every movie.

If all Presidents were like that

Then the world would have no problems, whatsoever.

Harrison Ford is not only a good actor. What made his star shine so bright was his capacity to feature in good movies. Air Force One is an action thriller in which he plays a president, trying to regain the control of Air Force One over a bunch of russian terrorists. His character oddly enough resembles greatly his Jack Ryan character of Clear And Present Danger and Patriot Games.

If you can bypass once again the tendancy of american filmmakers to suck up to their country and the fact that you would NEVER and I do mean ever see George W.Bush behave like this, then you will be entertained.THe scenario is quite slim, but this movie is full of intelligent action, never too much, never too little. It does have great directing, Ford is superb and so is Gary Oldman. Sure, you know how it's gonna end, but we all need heroes, right ?

Overall, this movie delivers in its category. A great way to spend the night if you're an avid fan of the action category in your video store. Don't watch it on a plane, though.

I hate this movie

My review might be biased, because I hate Harrison Ford. I loved him back in the day, but starting at about this movie, his acting has gone down hill!

He has one expression. His face is always wooden. I think if he cracked a smile, his face might crack.

It doesn't help that the movie is a lame movie, that stereotypes minorities, and is full of mindless action, with explosion thrown in every 30 minutes.

Don't waste your time watching this!

I love this movie

A certain thing I love about this film is that it involves the President of the USA kicking @$$. It doesn't hurt that the President is Harrison Ford and that the Villian is Gary Oldman. The story is basically Gary Oldman threatening the like life of the president by high-jacking Air Force One. The action is great and the story plausible. Gary Oldman is great as usual and Harrison Ford is also great for a change. Glenn Close play the Vice President and that's great. With William H macy and Xander Berkley ( from 24) round out this great great action flic.

Harrison Ford Plays The President

Air Force One is a action/thriller film that you have got to see to believe because there is not one instant dull moment in the whole film. Harrison Ford gives one of the best performances of his career and you guess why he gets paid the big bucks in Hollywood.

Harrison Ford can play any character he wants because he is a legend and there is nobody that can fill his shoes. Air Force is a very exciting film that you don't want to miss out on. They usually show this film on TV so I would just advise you to wait until they show the film on TV. Air Force will take you for one fast trip.

Get Off My Plane!

This is one of the best action/thriller films of the 90s. Air Force One will leave you at the edge of your seat. It has got some great acting by Harrison Ford who plays the US President and Gary Oldman who plays the terrorist. The President is left to protect his family, the passengers on board the airplane and of course his beloved country. This is a film that shows how the USA fights terrorism and how they will mot live in the same world as terrorism is being in place.

Air Force One is an action packed thriller that will not disappoint the audience. I have seen this film at least ten times and it get more fun each time I watch it. Harrison Ford can play any role he wants but as President of the United States Of America suits him the best. Air Force also delivers one of the best lines in movie history "Get Off My Plane." I love that line!

Ford VS Terrorism

Whether Harrison himself seeks or is handed scripts involving matters of national security is anyone's guess. But one thing is clear, he has found a way of making a string of victorious thrillers. From his Jack Ryan titles to the ill-fated 'K-19: The Widowmaker', Harrison has not only shown an interest in the material, but has forged himself a position in a political arena. This ranks up there with Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, but, without all the diplomatic jargon, it is more accessible to non-Clancy followers. (3.75/5)

This movie rocks!!

i just love this movie. They could not pick a better actor to play the president of the united states other than ford. This guy has the face of a president and fits into this role perfectly. I also liked glenn close ,this actor has always fascinated me and deserves an oscar for her role in this movie.Rent it now and have a good time.

Too predictable, but not bad

This isn't a bad movie, but it's just not an original one at all. It's one of those very predictable, and really average American movie about their President, that you already know the end of it as soon as the movie begins. Other than that, it's hard to argue about the performance of the cast, which isn't bad (Harrison Ford is always good, no matter what!).

But, in my opinion, this movie doesn't belong to the must see category, unless it's playing on television.

Ford as president.

I gotta say that this movie probably spawned off one of my favorite movie lines as years after it's release I still at times say "Get off my plane!" And why not? This movie was really good. Harrison ford was a kick ass hold nothing back president, and that's a big change from what there is now as president in the states. It was a believeable movie with a unique idea for it's time.

Definitly watch this if you haven't already.

Big screen

Air Force One is a movie to see on the big screen. Video would not do it justice. Harrison Ford is good as usual, but the story soon begins to lack in logic and reality. It also, as is typical in Hollywood movies, begins to repulse the viewer with its language. Hollywood should be trying to keep the viewer's attention, not turn one off of the movie half way thru it.

Could Ford replace Bush?

This is quite an exciting movie. Harrison Ford plays the part of the President of the United States and is quite convincing. He is of course the hero of the day. This subject seems to really hit home especially these days. At the time it came out it seemed almost impossible for anything like that to actually happen, however, times being what they are, we all know that anything is possible. Do you think Bush would be able to fight as Ford did in this movie? I think so.

This is an action packed film and I recommend it.

Indiana Jones as President?

Even though Harrison Ford uses a lot of his Indiana Jones character in his portrayal of the President of the United States, he is still believable. It is an action packed thriller that makes you root for the underdog. It is difficult to believe that Harrison Ford is in his sixties. The man is always doing physical roles. It is definitely worth renting.

God Bless America

If you can get past this movie's patriotism, it is quite a good movie. Harrison Ford plays the president of the United States. He does a good job and is quite believable in that role (maybe there are possible political aspirations here).

The movie is an intense ride aboard Air Force One with a lot of action and some great scenes with the terrorists. Harrison Ford seems to pick movies that are well suited to his character.

Hop on board and enjoy the trip.
