The Hunger Games

Having just finished reading the incredibly addictive Suzanne Collins novel, and having fallen in love with heroine Katniss Everdeen during that process, I could barely breathe before seeing the film adaptation. I found myself holding my breath quite often throughout the film, which depicts an annual sporting event where children of supposed lesser stock battle it out to the death for the amusement of the upper crust. Either the action was incredibly tense or I was worried, unnecessarily, that director Gary Ross would miss the delicate nuances in pivotal moments. Led by the ferocious and mesmerizing Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss herself, The Hunger Gamessatisfies every craving and leaves you starving for more.
